Boiler Questions

If your boiler is over 10 years old, frequently breaking down, making unusual noises, has visible corrosion, or your energy bills are increasing despite similar usage, it may be time for a new boiler. Our Gas Safe registered engineers can assess your current system and advise whether repairs or replacement would be more cost-effective in the long run.

The ideal boiler depends on your property size, hot water demands, and existing system. Generally, combi boilers are excellent for smaller homes with limited space and 1-2 bathrooms. System boilers work well for properties with multiple bathrooms and higher hot water demands. Regular (conventional) boilers are suitable for homes with traditional heating systems. We’ll recommend the best option for your specific needs during our free consultation.

Most standard boiler replacements are completed within a day (6-8 hours). However, if you’re changing boiler types or relocating your boiler, the installation may take 1-2 days. We’ll provide a clear timeframe during your quote, and our engineers work efficiently to minimise disruption to your home.

As Worcester Bosch accredited installers, we primarily recommend their boilers for their exceptional reliability, efficiency, and performance. However, we also install other quality brands such as Vaillant, Baxi, and Ideal. We’ll discuss the options and help you choose the best boiler for your requirements and budget.

We recommend annual boiler servicing to maintain efficiency, ensure safety, and comply with warranty requirements. Regular servicing helps prevent breakdowns, extends your boiler’s lifespan, and keeps your heating system running efficiently. Most manufacturer warranties, including our 12-year warranty, require yearly servicing by a qualified engineer.

Our market-leading 12-year warranty covers all major components of your Worcester Bosch boiler against manufacturing defects and unexpected failures. This includes parts, labour, and call-out fees for any warranty-related repairs. A Gas Safe registered engineer must service your boiler annually to maintain this coverage. We’ll provide full warranty details with your installation.

Heating System Questions

Inefficient heating can result from various issues, including air in the system, sludge buildup, incorrectly sized radiators, poor insulation, or an ageing boiler. Our engineers can thoroughly assess the root cause and recommend appropriate solutions, from power flushing to system upgrades or replacement.

Power flushing is a deep cleaning process that uses high-pressure water to remove sludge, rust, and debris from your heating system. Signs that your system might need power flushing include cold spots on radiators, noisy operation, frequent bleeding requirements, or discoloured water when bleeding radiators. To protect your investment, we recommend power flushing before installing a new boiler.

Most standard boiler replacements are completed within a day (6-8 hours). However, if you’re changing boiler types or relocating your boiler, the installation may take 1-2 days. We’ll provide a clear timeframe during your quote, and our engineers work efficiently to minimise disruption to your home.

Improving energy efficiency can include installing a modern condensing boiler, adding smart controls, insulating pipes, balancing your radiators, installing thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), power flushing your system, or considering renewable heating options. We can suggest tailored improvements to maximise your system’s efficiency during our assessment.

Yes, we install and configure a range of smart heating controls, including Hive, Nest, Honeywell, and Worcester Bosch’s smart thermostats. These systems allow you to control your heating remotely, create schedules, and learn your habits to optimise efficiency. Smart controls can reduce energy bills by up to 31% when used correctly.

  5. Being alert to any unusual noises or changes in performance

Jack & the Gas Jack Team

Jack took the time to meet with us to understand what was required and the urgency of finding a resolution to our ongoing Sports Centre and Swimming Pool issues. Jack was able to offer varying designs and solutions at different costings ensuring that all of the options were covered and explained fully regarding output and capability to determine what was best for the University.

When undertaking a large plant room refit for the sports centre and swimming pool, Jack and the team swiftly and professionally decommissioned and removed the dated Rehema, Andrews boilers and flue system.

They supplied and fitted 4 x 150kw Viessmann boilers into a bespoke cascaded system to enable the swimming pool plate heat exchanger and the heat load of the sports centre building to be run alongside each other without issue.  The new cascade flue system was installed to service the replacement Viessmann Vito-Cell 1000 litre cylinder, to allow instant hot water demand was provided and covered all areas. There was a huge amount of associated products and works required and these were carried out to ensure the whole plantroom, heating and hot water system was set up to be controlled via the new BMS.

Working with GasJack has been a joy.

Jack and his team are helpful and considerate, putting the customer first at all times.
